The Ultimate Guide to Paros 2024
Paros is undeniably beautiful. I am a serial Greece offender, I visit once a year without question and over the years have managed to tick some of the major islands off my list, the likes of Mykonos, Naxos, Milos, Hydra and many more, yet the small picturesque island of Paros consistently tops my list.
Paros is located in the heart of the Cyclades and is one of the main transport hubs in this group of islands. There are two main villages in Paros, Parikia and Naoussa. Both are very different in their unique way.
The island is famous for its 120km of stunning coastline, Paros is home to some of the most stunning beaches I have encountered on my travels. Picture crystal-clear water, sandy beaches and countless beach bars serving up ice-cold beers.
Let’s jump into it and talk about where to eat, how to get there, where to stay, things to do and tips when visiting the Greek island of Paros.
How to get to Paros?
Paros is one of the main transport hubs for the Cyclades islands, there are around 8 daily ferries from the ports of Piraeus and Rafdina on the Greek mainland. All ferries take on average around 4 hours.
You also have the option to fly, I have taken this route once and the flight from Athens is around 30 minutes, you will then need to hop in a taxi from the Paros landing strip to one of the main towns.
Paros is easy to include in your Greek island hopping itinerary as it directly neighbours the popular islands of Naxos, Ios, Santorini and Milos.
Where to stay on Paros?
Now, there are two towns, Naoussa and Parikia. Naoussa is a laid-back, cobbled street fine dining vibe. However, it really comes alive at night, I mean reallllyyy comes alive.
Naoussa has loads of little rooftop bars that play music until the early hours of the morning, the vibe is generally younger people, couples or girls holidays.
Parikia has a different vibe completely, it feels slightly more touristy, with lots of beachfront restaurants and bars and not a lot of choice if you want to party into the night. There is a great selection of restaurants, I will get onto this later.
There is a third small town called Lefkes, this traditional Greek town is perfect for those who want to chill, lounge around by the beach and really relax for the duration of their stay.
Personally I visit Paros for 2 days every year on my annual Greek sailing trip, we tend to spend 1 night in each town and I recommend you do the same.
There are plenty of Airbnbs, Hotels and Hostels available on Paros, you are spoilt for choice.
How long to stay in Paros?
Typically people stay on Paros for 1-2 days. You could absolutely stay longer, there is plenty to do on this Greek Island, I would say you could easily stay on Paros for a week. But 1-2 days at a minimum.
The BEST Beaches on Paros
Livadia Beach
This beach is close to the capital of Parikia and is a great option for those staying there. The beach offers great amenities such as watersports hire, tavernas and plenty of beach bars.
Molos Beach
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Paros this hidden gem is great for those wanting a chill day. There are no beach bars or sunbed hire but this beach is perfect for those who want to throw down a towel and have a chill day.
Golden Beach
One of the longest beaches on Paros, Golden Beach boasts golden sand, crystal clear waters and a great windsurfing opportunity for thrillseekers like myself.
Kolymbithres Beach
Famous for its mindblowing rock formations this beach is one to visit. Close to Naoussa Kolymbithres Beach offers watersports facilities as well as a few beach bars. Definitely one of the best beaches in Paros!
