Hostels in Colombia

The 5 Most Extraordinary Hostels in Colombia

Colombia has many unique hostels, some located deep in the jungle whilst others are set on the sandy white Caribbean coastline. Colombia undeniably has it all! Here are some of the most special hostels I stayed at while visiting Colombia.

Journey Hostel, Santa Marta

Journey Hostel, known for its infinity pool looking over the jungle of Tayrona Park has to make it onto the list of extraordinary Hostels. The Hostel is within walking distance from the stunning white sand beaches and the entrance of Tayrona Park. There are waterfalls within walking distance of the hostel as well as a monkey trail where you can spot all kinds of wildlife.

Even better, Journey Hostel offers 2-for-1 cocktails at sunset every day!! Get yourself a great spot in the amazing infinity pool and have cocktails brought down poolside for you whilst the sun goes down. A truly special experience.

Casa en el Agua, San Bernando Islas

An old Colombian holiday home has become a truly unique eco-hostel. Casa en el Agua, nestled in the San Bernardo islands will certainly have you speechless.

Casa en el Agua is quite literally an island of its own, you can jump into the crystal clear Caribbean waters. This place isn’t too big and books up weeks in advance, so if you fancy a stay here, make sure to secure your reservation!

El Rio Rostel, Buritaca

One for the party lovers. El Rio Hostel is renowned for throwing amazing parties. Nestled in the Colombian jungle, El Rio hosts a range of activities, the boozy river tubing is especially fun.

El Rio puts on some big parties that often run from 15:00 to 08:00 the next day, so not for the faint of heart! The parties tend to be Thursdays and Sundays so you can still avoid these if you are looking for a more chilled-out experience.

If you aren’t up for partying there is still plenty to do such as yoga, motorbike hire, nature trails, tubing and so much more. Stay here if you want the true jungle experience with the added luxury of warm showers and 10/10 food! Definitely one of my favourite hostels in Colombia!

Casa Loma, Minca

This place is special, and whilst the initial walk up to the hostel may have you questioning your decision to book a few nights here, your mind will soon change when you reach the top.

Casa Loma serves up some amazing vegan food. They also have one of the best views I have ever experienced. The sunset viewing deck comes to life on an evening, the tunes are playing and cocktails flowing. This place is 100% worth a visit if you are passing through.

Masaya Casas Viejas, Minca

My absolute favourite, this place has a special place in my heart. Masaya Casas Viejas is in the middle of nowhere, the only way to come and go is via motorbike, about an hour off the beaten track.

Masaya Casas Viejas has the most amazing pool I’ve ever seen! The pool is heated as well, which is great as it tends to be a bit cooler up in the mountains. There are local tours around the local Victoria coffee farm which is a great experience.

The hostel itself has high-speed wifi, so great for digital nomads. There is a family dinner every night and the food is honestly amazing.
