Party In El Paredon

Where To Party In El Paredon

If you have read any of my other blogs on El Paredon, you will know by now that I am obsessed with the place. El Paredon has not been discovered by the masses yet and remains one of Guatemala’s untouched gems. If you are reading this I think it is safe to assume you are thinking of heading to El Paredon, or maybe you already have the trip booked!

In this article, I am going to tell you when, and where to party in El Paredon, Guatemala.

I love this place. Great surf, great weather and amazing restaurants. One thing that can be a struggle is finding a party! El Paredon is not a party town. It is a small rural village that has become increasingly popular over the last few years. It is much more chill than spots such as Antigua, Lake Atitlan and even Flores! However, if you know where to look you can still have a really good night out! Even staying up into the early hours partying!

Best Places to Party in El Pardeon

Driftwood surfers and party hostel

Probably the first place you would go looking for a party, it’s all in the name I guess. Driftwood has been throwing some of the biggest parties in El Paredon for a while now. Somewhat professionals. Driftwood has a great pool area, as well as an upstairs beer and sunset terrace where you can enjoy the sunset whilst enjoying a drink or 5.

On Wednesday Driftwood Hostel throws a beer pong tournament. If you sign up you get free beer for the duration. After the tournament comes to an end the music cranks up, and the local DJs play dance music until the early hours of the morning. Driftwood throws parties most nights of the week but I’d say Wednesday is your best shot if you’re looking where to party in El Paredon.

Driftwood Hostel also throw parties on Monday and Saturday, maybe not as lively as the beer pong night however, there is still a good chance that fellow travellers will be down there in the masses.

Cocori Lodge

My favourite hostel in El Paredon. Cocori throws a few decent nights but Thursday is the best. It follows the same theme as Driftwood with the beer pong tournament. The winners often win a prize like a free bottle of spirit. Runners up getting a free round of shots. Some great music pumping and a big dancefloor to have some fun!

It is worth noting that Cocori Lodge hosts Tuesday trivia nights and Wednesday ladies’ nights also! Their nights tend to be busy with lots of travellers making their way along the sandy beaches to drink at Cocoris amazing bar!

Saturday booze cruise! Probably the best day session you can have in El Paredon. Cocori Lodge throws a Saturday boat party on the black pearl boat! Up and down the beautiful mangroves you can party to your heart’s content! After the trip has finished everybody heads back to Cocori Hostel to enjoy the amazing pool and bar facilities.

Mellow Hostel

Mellow, the name says it all. This super chill hostel is set back from the beach sort of hidden away from the hustle and bustle.

Still, Mellow hosts their own variation of the beer pong on a Wednesday night. This tends to be a bit more quiet than the other hostels but is still worth the visit if you want something to do. Travellers who want to carry on the party tend to head down to Driftwood afterwards.

Mellow tends to throw a bit more of a party on a Friday, with DJs playing late into the night and a decent-sized dance floor.

Bierstube

Bierstube is a spin-off from the well-known bar in Guatemala City. They are located on El Paredon Beach between Cocori and Driftwood. They serve cold beer on tap! Lots of tasty cocktails and lots of seating, there is room for everyone!

This place tends to be more busy on the ‘quiet nights’ where hostels aren’t throwing their own parties. And it stays open until around 2 am.

Final notes on where to party in El Paredon.

If you’re looking primarily for a party, then maybe El Paredon isn’t the right spot for you. This is a relaxed surf community and only a small town. There are still plenty of spots for a good night out though! And I can promise you, you’ll have fun if you visit! There is plenty to do in the day and it does still come alive at night.

If you are thinking of visiting but can’t yet decide. Read our article on whether it is really worth visiting El Paredon.
